Nathan Bransford has a great article regarding the response to J.K. Rowling’s words about romance and her characters. Does it take away from this reader’s interpretation of the series read or the movies seen? No. I’m content with how things ended up with Hermione and Ron. Not that it matters what other readers/viewers think. Whatever interpretations and filters we bring to a story are ours and require no justification.
Does this have me thinking about relationships in my stories? Sure. Does this mean I’ll pull a “George Lucas re-write” to fix it the way I want them? (Anyone else shaking their head at the nonsense that Han Solo did not fire first at Greedo?) No. Maybe. It might help to stop revising some of these projects to get them to print.
Any what-if scenarios you wish you could revise?
